I would love to see broken cables being introduced.

I would suggest the following options:
-Install a dead cable (if you are building a T-Shoot lab for someone)
-A cable that will go dead randomly
-A Flapping Cable/Link (Random occurrence and length)
-A Flapping Cable/Link (At a predefined frequency of going down and being down, good tool to study how your network reacts and study packet flow)
-A fail/fix option (Be able to right click on a link and select break or fix)

Just some thoughts.

We have had similar thoughts, you are going a bit further in the idea.

I'll keep these on our TODO list.

Thanks!

Something like clumsy could work out if integrated in GNS.

http://jagt.github.io/clumsy/

Quote:
Lag, hold the packets for a short period of time to emulate network lagging.
Drop, randomly discard packets.
Throttle, block traffic for a given time frame, then send them in a single batch.
Duplicate, send cloned packets right after to the original one.
Out of order, re-arrange the order of packets.
Tamper, nudge bits of packet's content.

I don't know about an integration but there are definitely some ideas to take from this software.
