Hi,
First off, great job on GNS3! It is a great solution which was instrumental in helping me pass the CCNA and CCNA Security.
I am excitedly awaiting v1.0...

So here's my issue, and I've dug through all the boards and posts that I could find, but to no avail.
I've been playing with ubuntu 14.04 (same issue exists in 13.10) and Qemu 1.7.
I successfully added the ppa to 14.04. (I pointed the ppa config from trusty back to saucy...worked like a charm)
I then installed qemu, vpcs, dynamips, gns3. All worked with no issues.

No issues with routers (7200 or 3725). They function without any issues.

Here is where the problem comes in. I configured my ASA (8.4) as I did in my 12.04 install, which is running qemu 0.11.
I add the ASA to my topo and connect it to a switch (as recommended in several posts, single int or all ints same result).
When I start the device and start up the console window, I get the startup messages, but it normally hangs around Uncompressing initrd. (no change after several hours...)

Looking at the command generated by qemuwrapper.py (ps aux | grep qemu) I can copy the command, kill the current process, paste the command (add "s around the -append parms), hit enter and relaunch the console in gns3 and the ASA starts with no issue and is fully functional. But no I have the qemu process running outside of gns3 control. While workable, it's not a great solution.

I also ran the same scenario in 13.10. Unfortunately with 13.10 you must compile qemu 1.7 from source. Not a huge deal, but time consuming. My results with the 13.10 system were exactly the same. The ASA hangs at uncompressing initrd. But if I kill the qemu process and relaunch the exact same command, I can reopen the console in gns3 and the ASA works like a charm.

Has anyone else run into this situation and come up with a solution?

*** Side note: my first impressions with 14.04 are great. It was a bit unstable a couple of weeks ago, but most of those problems have been addressed. Also the performance is much better than my 12.04 system.

Thanks!
Richard

For Ubuntu 14.04, the latest versions are available in the main archives...

GNS3: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/gns3 (multiverse*)
Dynamips: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/dynamips (multiverse*)
VPCS: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/vpcs (universe)

* To enable the multiverse repository, see the following: http://askubuntu.com/questions/89096/ho ... repository

You could try to add this option at the end of the ASA kernel cmd line: no-hlt

This should solve your issue.
