I'm getting a "pyenv: command not found" error when trying to run the "echo ‘eval “$(pyenv init -)”‘ >> ~/.bashrc" command.

Did you try without the double quotes at the beginning and the end? You are not using pyenv command but an echo command. You could also could edit the file with gedit and add:
eval "$(pyenv init -)"

Below is what I get...

[email protected]:~$ echo ‘eval “$(pyenv init -)”‘ >> ~/.bashrc
pyenv: command not found
[email protected]:~$ eval "$(pyenv init -)"
pyenv: command not found

agree... it is odd that it's not actually a pyenv command.

Edit .bashrc manually with vi, vim, nano, etc.... That should solve your problem...

Am having a difficult time with it... and everything brings me back to the original issue. Below is my .bashrc...

fi
export PYENV_ROOT=”$HOME/.pyenv”
export PATH=”$PYENV_ROOT/bin:$PATH”
eval "$(pyenv init -)"
export PATH="/bin:/usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games"

when i do the exec $SHELL... i still get the following:

pyenv: command not found

Really stumped on this...

OK.... so it was that export PATH that was messing things up... not sure where that came from or why it was there (must of been something I did previously). But I removed that and now it's installing Python... we'll see if I can complete this.

Thanks

Now I seem to be good all the way to installing dynamips. Getting the following after doing

sudo apt-get libelf1 libelf-dev libuuid1 uuid-dev libpcap-dev

E: Invalid operation libelf1

Quote:

Should be sudo apt-get install libelf1 libelf-dev libuuid1 uuid-dev libpcap-dev
