"could not find local server error"

forgive my ignorance (new to linux), but after the install I get this error indicating the path to the executable server file is wrong. If i follow the defaults when i install, where should this file be located?

same issue with dynamips, what is the default path that file.

As far as I've read, I am trying to identify executable files with ls -l and looking for executable permissions but no luck.

A couple of questions. O take it you are installing the Beta

Is this correct?

If so there are several pieces to the install but two major ones, Have you installed the gui AND the server?

I have the same error message. "Could not connect to the local server 127.0.0.1 on port 8000: Could not determine the server version" I also try to follow the instruction but I can not find the gns3-0.7.4-src directory for the dynamips-0.2.8-RC3-community-x86-bin file.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and i did update the GNS3 beta 2. I upidated the GNS3 from the source code. I downloaded the GNS3-0.7.4-src.tar.gz file, untar it, then run the python3 setup.py install command.
I was also had the earlist version of GNS3 running but now since the update, its broken.

Thanks.
